Quick answer

Most compounded peptide prescriptions cost about $80 to $350 a month, plus $150 to $400 for the first consult depending on the peptide. This reflects the prescription price itself and does not include insurance coverage, which rarely covers options like sermorelin.

Key takeaways

  • Sermorelin lists at $175 to $225 a month, compared with $500 to $3,000-plus for synthetic human growth hormone therapy, and insurance rarely covers it.
  • Compounded GLP-1 copies sold for about $150 to $300 a month versus more than $1,000 for brands while shortage rules allowed them, a window the FDA has now closed.
  • Treatment starts with a clinician review of labs and health history, then a prescription sent to a state-licensed pharmacy, and compounded drugs are not FDA approved.

You will pay about $80 to $350 a month for most compounded peptide prescriptions, plus $150 to $400 for the first consult, depending on which peptide you choose. That estimate comes from provider pricing reported July 28, 2026. Weight-loss GLP-1 copies had a separate low-price window that is now closing.

What will I pay each month?

The monthly amount reflects the prescription itself, and the peptide you choose moves you up or down in the range. The consult fee covers your first visit, health review and prescription setup.

Sermorelin is a prescription peptide women consider for age-related skin and body goals, and it has the clearest public pricing. Ivy Rx lists sermorelin at $175 to $225 a month in its 2026 pricing guide, compared with $500 to $3,000-plus a month for synthetic human growth hormone therapy. The same guide notes insurance rarely covers sermorelin.

Why are cheap compounded GLP-1s going away?

From 2022 to 2025, pharmacies could legally make copies of semaglutide, tirzepatide and liraglutide because the brands were listed as in shortage. Compounded means a licensed pharmacy makes it to fill your prescription. Pharmacy Times reported Sept. 2, 2026 that those copies sold for about $150 to $300 a month, compared with more than $1,000 a month for the brands.

That opening has closed. The FDA stated Aug. 4, 2026 that tirzepatide and semaglutide appear on neither the drug shortage list nor the 503B bulks list, and it declared the semaglutide shortage resolved on Feb. 21, 2025. 503B facilities are large outsourcing facilities that prepare compounded drugs in bulk. The agency has now proposed barring those facilities from bulk-compounding these GLP-1 drugs.

How do I get it and what does the price include?

You get treatment through a clinic or telehealth visit with a prescription. A licensed clinician reviews your labs and health history first, then sends your prescription to a state-licensed pharmacy if it fits. Meto described this review process June 23, 2026. You pay the consult fee for that review and then the monthly cost for the prescription.

Compounded drugs have not been approved by the FDA. Meto notes they carry known and unknown risks that vary by person. Start the quiz to see which prescription option fits your goals and budget.
